Kilmeena 6-7 - 4-12 Kiltimagh
In a thriller of a game, Kilmeena U13s secured both points for the second time this season with a one-point win over Kiltimagh on a sunny evening in Kilmeena.
Playing with the wind, our boys started brightly netting four goals and kicking four points in the first half. It was nip-and-tuck in the third quarter but in the final quarter our backs were to the wall. Finding it difficult to get get the ball out of defence, Kiltimagh took full advantage, raining shots down on our goal, eating away at our lead. With only thirty seconds to go and four points behind, Kiltimagh were awarded a free which resulted in a goal, leaving us with only a one point advantage. Thankfully we won our kick out and retained possession for the final few seconds and won the game.
It was fantastic for the boys to win a game given the recent results but this was no fluke: their application and tenacity this evening was the best we've seen from them this season and we know they have more to give.
Only one league game left - a home fixture against Burrishoole next Thursday, 22nd July. Fingers crossed they can keep the momentum going. Well done boys!
