FIRST PIECE OF CHAMPIONSHIP SILVERWARE FOR KILMEENA LADIES CLUB
Kilmeena Girls U14 team have made it into the history books. They are the winners of the Mayo LGFA Championship ‘C’ Westaro Cup. In the aftermath of storm "Lorenzo" on a dry autumn Friday evening Kilmeena went searching for a county title against a formidable Kilmaine team in Islandeady. Kilmeena got the opening point of the game and the girls from the shores of Clew Bay played some impressive football taking the game to 1 - 9 against 0 - 2 at half time. The Kilmeena girls displayed a massive team effort and support for one another both on and off the ball. They were very composed and confident with their score taking and team play. Kilmaine were strong contenders and competitive throughout the game however, Kilmeena pushed on in the second half and finished the game with an impressive score of 4 - 18 to Kilmaine's 0 - 3.The performance from both sides reflected dedication and commitment to the sport. These girls wouldn’t have been able to demonstrate such ability without the dedication and inspiration from their managers and parents. Well done to all involved.
