Super 10s heroes narrowly miss out on Padraig Mulroe Cup

Well done to our super U10s, runners-up - silver medalists - in the Tourmakeady blitz today. Every player played his part in contributing to a fantastic team performance that they, along with their parents and club, can be extremely proud of.

The first of four matches saw our boys comfortably overcome Clonbur in 24 degree heat. Fortunately, for the rest of the day, the sun took a break behind the clouds. Next up were The Neale. This proved a tighter encounter than the first but after trailing at half time, Kilmeena pulled away in the second half and ran out winners with seven points to spare in the end. The hosts, Tourmakeady, were the next opponents and for a short spell in the first half Kilmeena heads dropped and Tourmakeady took full advantage, running in several scores which, in the end, proved an insurmountable lead.

A rallying pep talk from Pat Mulchrone before the final fixture against Ballinrobe fired the team up and they tore into Ballinrobe from the throw-in, chalking up some early scores. Some super-human defending then ensued for the the remainder of the first half, limiting an exasperated Ballinrobe to a single score. Kilmeena started the second half as they did the first, taking their chances with a few points and a couple of goals and ran out comfortable winners in the end.

After a busy few months, we're going to take a well-deserved break: there'll be no training for the next three Thursdays. We'll return to training on the 16th August. Enjoy the break!
