A great day was had by all to mark Fr. Jim Walsh’s birthday. Before Sunday mass, Fr. Charlie spoke movingly of Fr. Jim’s contribution to life in the parish before departing for a prior engagement. To celebrate the mass, Fr. Jim was joined by Fr. Anthony King who spoke of his long friendship with, and memories of Fr. Jim. Kilmeena Folk Choir provided the music and were on top form.
After mass, the celebrations moved to the Community Centre where a huge gathering devoured the tea, sandwiches and cakes provided by the community. A group of talented local musicians, the Folk Choir and other local entertainers added to the celebratory atmosphere.
